The stainless steel M77 Mark II bolt incorporates a non-rotating Mauser-type extractor, the most positive system ever invented. The fixed-blade-type ejector positively ejects the empty cases as the bolt is moved fully rearward. The controlled feeding extractor is designed to engage the extraction groove of the cartridge before the cartridge is fully seated. This positively guides the cartridge into the chamber and helps prevent jamming.

M77 Mark II rifles are produced with Ruger's patented integral scope mounting system. Traditional separate scope mount bases are not required because the ruger scope rings attach directly to the receiver's machined mounting surfaces, eliminating a potential source of looseness and inaccuracy in the field. Medium height Ruger scope rings are included at no extra cost.
